Does Goodwills offer a Wills at Home Service?
Goodwills offers a nationwide home visit Wills service, so wherever you are in the country we are able to help. Our fees are very competitive and start at under £100.00 for a single Will and under £150.00 for mirror Wills (Wills for a couple).
What are the advantages of a Wills at Home service?
There are several notable advantages to using a home visit Wills service, including the most obvious benefit of saving you time and travel costs. It can be intimidating to visit a ‘stuffy’ Solicitors office to have your Wills drawn up, whereas with a home visit Wills service, all instructions are taken in the comfort of your own home. If you are in a position where it would be a struggle for you to visit your Solicitors offices, then a home visit Wills service is even more beneficial to you.
Does Goodwills return for the signing and execution of the Will as part of their Home Visit Wills service?
Yes, we will book in a second appointment for the execution of the Will and your local Estate Planning Practitioner will act as one of the witnesses. This is a useful benefit of the service, as it ensures the Will is properly executed and means that there is an experienced witness who can be called upon should the Will ever be challenged later.
What should you prepare in advance if you’re making a Will at home?
If you are making your Will at home through Goodwills, then our adviser will go through in advance what you need to have prepared beforehand. In particular, you will need to think about or we will need to see the following:
- Valid identity documents for you.
- Who are to be appointed as your Executors?
- If you have minor children, who would you want to be their Guardians?
- Are there any Gifts or Legacies that you would like to leave?
- Who would you like to leave the residue of your Estate to (everything that’s left over after debts, tax and any specific gifts/legacies have been given/paid.
Do you offer other Home Visit Estate Planning services?
We cater not only to making Wills at home but are also able to prepare Lasting Power of Attorney and can organise Trust documents for you through the home visit format. You may wish to have a look at the LPA or Trusts section of our website to get a better idea of what we’re able to do. If you’d like more general information about Wills themselves, then take a look at the main Wills section of our website.
Do you offer Care Home Will Writing services?
Yes, if you or your loved one are in a care home, then we are more than happy to visit you or them there. Given that clients in a care home would tend to struggle to visit a lawyer’s offices, we provide this service relatively often. Solicitors tend to charge an hourly rate for their travel time, as well as expenses, so our services are far more cost efficient.
Are there any disadvantages to making a Will at home?
There may be family members or others living with you and who you do not wish to be aware that you are having your Will drawn up. In this case, we can arrange a Will meeting at a suitable location, so that those family members/others are not aware that you’re having instructions taken.
Do you also offer Will writing services at your Head Office?
We also offer a Will writing service from our Head Office in Bedford, which may be more suitable for those who are nearby.
